CNS Middle East, an Emirati company that developed the software used in the first Automatic Teller Machine in Dubai specialized for the People-of-Determination.
In the spirit of the Special Olympics and the national drive to make Dubai a people-of-determination friendly city by 2020, CNS Middle East with Sharjah Islamic Bank and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) inaugurated an Automatic Teller Machine with specialized functions that assist those with impaired sight and hearing, physical or mental challenges – the first of its kind in Dubai.
To cater for the needs of people of determination, the pioneering ATM is designed with artificial intelligence (AI) and boasts features like audio guidance and Braille stickers to help individuals with special needs to navigate the ATM and execute banking transactions independently, without any external help. It has also been designed to be accessible for people in wheelchairs.
The installed ATM was unveiled at the Federal Authority for Identity & Citizenship in Al Jafiliya, and the event was attended by the top management of Sharjah Islamic bank, CNS and Major General Mohammad Ahmad al Merri – Head of the GDRFA.
It will offer four key services including cash withdrawal, balance inquiry, mini statements, and PIN change. It will also be accessible to general customers.
Fittingly, the inauguration was also attended by Special Olympics World Games medalists who were the first to use this innovative ATM.
The initiative is part of the continuous noble efforts of government and industry to work together and integrate people of determination into our shared society.
